Safe Communities Humboldt and Area, with assistance from the Humboldt RCMP, the Humboldt and District Ambulance Service as well as local car seat technicians will be out checking child restraints in Humboldt Friday.

They will hold a infant and child seat restraint safety clinic from 9:30-11:30 on Glenn Hall Drive between 16th and 17th Street.

SCHA Executive Director Shari Hinz points out this is strictly an information session that could save your child's life.

"We definitely want to ensure that families have an opportunity to have their car seats inspected, again there are no tickets being handed out. This is strictly is for inspection purposes and to ensure that children are restrained properly within the vehicles because it's definitely important to maintain that aspect of safety."

According to Saskatchewan Government Insurance, almost half of children injured or killed in accidents are not properly restrained.

"Again, no tickets handed out," Hinz added. "I just want to make sure that everybody in the area if they are coming through, definitely stop in and have those seats inspected just to make sure they are installed properly so that children traveling can do so safely."

The event is weather permitting.
