Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan is reporting higher sales in the third quarter of 2017.

During their latest financial update released on Thursday, the fertilizer company says that sales were at $1.23 billion, which is a rise from $1.14 billion.

The third quarter was behind last year's pace, with $53 million earned, compared to $81 million from a year ago.

Profit per share was at six cents for the third quarter, which was down from 10 cents last year.

As the year goes on, PotashCorp, who has facilities at Allan and Lanigan, is expecting to a close a merger deal with Agrium.

Regulatory hurdles remain in the United States and China before the deal will officially close, which is anticipated by the end of the year.
