The replacement to Roy Hardy as City Manager in Humboldt comes from within.

Joe Day will take over the day-to-day operations of the city.

He explains why he is a good fit for the role.

"I have worked up at the City of Prince Albert for 14 years, and during certain periods of time acted as acting City Manager up there. With 15-plus years of senior management experience I think it's the right time to take on the leadership role."

Day has been working as Finance Director since December 2016, which he feels gives him a head start on the new role.

"I have had a lot of involvement with all areas of the city's operations, whether that be public works or community and leisure services, things like that. I am quite familiar with municipal operations, planning for the future and making sure we can get our project financed and carried through to success."

Although he had an active role already, Day's new taks will see him take on more involvement in Council Chambers.

"I'm looking forward to closer working relationships with council and ensuring the City of Humboldt gets good long term plans in place so we have some stability and predictability."

He adds that while the city is in a slow growth period, there is no doubt that there is potential for high growth in the future.

It was previously announced that Hardy will be leaving to Weyburn, where he will become City Manager in that community.

Day will take over as Humboldt's City Manager on August 14.
