The water supply system that provides service for 12 regional communities has seen some recent upgrades.

SaskWater Manager of Corporate Communications, Courtney Mihalicz explains more about the work they did.

"We most recently completed a back-up power generator and potable water storage reservoir. For both of those construction began in the fall of 2016 and were fully complete this spring."

She provided a couple of reasons the upgrades were necessary.

"Without the additional storage customers on the system would at times be required to use their own storage to ensure service. This would happen when the system was down during planned or unplanned interruptions. Those are caused sometimes by required maintenance on the system or power outages which are quite frequent in that area."

With the new generator, it can power the entire treatment plant and pumps which should decrease the amount of Precautionary Drinking Water Advisories that are issued in a year. The new reservoir increases their storage capacity from 600 metres cubed all the way to 4,500 metres cubed.

Humboldt, Muenster, Annaheim, Lake Lenore, Bruno, Cudworth, Wakaw, Domreny, St. Isidore-de-Bellevue, Hoey, St. Louis and the One Arrow First Nation all receive their water along the line.
