The instruments will be out in full sound, as a band wrap-up concert takes place in Humboldt.

Trumpets will be heard Wednesday night, as Humboldt's school bands team up for a grand finale concert.

Sharon Bates is the band teacher for Humboldt Public, St. Augustine and St. Dominic School. She says that they have a big collaboration in the works.

"We have all four Humboldt schools participating in a mass band concert. There will be eight bands playing individually and then right at the end we have all students involved in one piece called Star Wars," she explained. "We're hoping to have a couple of parents join us in that as well, who used to play instruments."

The concert will begin at 7:00pm at Humboldt Public School. There will be a silver collection at the door, with all funds brought in going towards Arts Humboldt.

Bates noted that given the financial state of the school bands, they were pleased to be able to give back to the arts/music scene in Humboldt.

"Arts Humboldt has supported the band programs in the past, so it's always nice to give back," she said. "The schools in the area had fairly successful fundraising campaigns this year, so we're okay money wise, so we thought it would be a good idea to donate back to the community."

Each year, the Humboldt and District Music Festival hosts hundreds of students to show their musical ability, and Bates noted that band in Humboldt continues to go over well.

"There are quite a few students involved - I think 160 to 180 kids involved between the four schools. The programs are well run and thriving."
