The First Westminster Scouts of Humboldt are inching towards a trip to Nova Scotia for the 2017 Canadian Jamboree.

On Friday, the Scouts held a fundraising barbecue at the Humboldt Co-op, which was well-received by burger enthusiasts.

Just under $1,200 was collected at the barbecue by the Scouts - all of which will be matched by Humboldt Scotiabank for a total of nearly $2,400.

The amount brought in, coincidentally, is the amount the group is looking to raise per child for the trip to the Atlantic province next year.

With over $20,000 now raised for the trip, the Scouts are closing in on completing their fundraising goal of $25,000.
