It will be a busy Saturday for the First Westminster Scouts of Humboldt, as they hold a pair of fundraisers.

They are continuing to raise funds to go to Nova Scotia in the summer for the Scouts Canada Jamboree.

Throughout the day, they will be doing a bottle drive, according to Aaron Behiel.

"The jamboree group is going to be going door-to-door collecting bottles, starting about 9:00am. We're not sure when they are going to finish up," he explained. "If anyone has bottles they have to give, we would gladly take them."

Those that wish to take part in the drive but won't be home can still have bottles picked up, says Behiel.

"You can leave them on the curb and people will pick them up or we will be sorting at the Humboldt Mall, so they could bring them down there."

Later on, another fundraiser takes place.

"In the evening, we have a steak night at the Pioneer, and it is a Rider theme," said Behiel.

The Rider theme will include prizes, as well as a chance to watch the team take on the BC Lions.

Tickets are available for $20, with $10 from each ticket sold going to the Scouts. The night begins at 5:00pm with supper at 6:30pm.

Behiel added that they have 14 kids and four leaders that will be taking part in the week-long adventure in Nova Scotia, and they are working on finalizing a cost.

"We still don't have firm numbers. We now know the flight costs and the registration costs, but we have to figure out how to ship all our gear to Nova Scotia and then figure out the meals. They have a grocery store on site and we have to actually buy and cook everything for ourselves."

Behiel says he appreciates all the support that the group has and is continuing to receive.
