With the hot weather bearing down, crops are starting to ripen much faster than expected, especially the Seed for Green, Harvest for Gold Project.

The Project is a quarter land just south of Humboldt that is being rented out by the Humboldt Broncos to benefit from the profit of the crop.

"with the help of all ag retailers in Humboldt and area, they donate all their supplies and services," said Ross Ruedig, Coordinator of the project.

The Broncos have made around $120,000 in the past 3 years of the project. This is the 4th year the project has been up and running, but next year is the 5th and final year unless another deal is sorted out.

The crop has looked better in past years but Ruedig is expecting an average harvest with this year's crop of Barley. Next year the crop will be planted with canola.

Ruedig stated there would be no crop to harvest if it weren't for all the sponsors and Ag representation in Humboldt and the surrounding area. The crop will be swathed within the next the next few weeks.
