Seeding is essentially complete in Saskatchewan, as 98 per cent of the 2016 crop is in the ground according to Saskatchewan Agriculture's crop report.

In the northeast and east-central regions of the province, 98 and 97 per cent of the crop has been seeded.

Topsoil moisture conditions are rated as 12 per cent surplus, 70 per cent adequate, 14 per cent short and four per cent very short. Hay land and pasture topsoil moisture is sitting at 80 per cent adequate, 19 per cent short and one per cent very short.

A warm week has allowed for crops to emerge quite nicely and are reported as being in relatively good condition.

Across the province, the majority of fall rye and winter wheat is in the shotblade to heading stage, spring cereals in the emergence to tillering stage, canola and mustard in the emerging to seedling stage and pulse crops in the emergence to vegetative stage.

Farmers are busy controlling weeds and scouting for insects.
