East-central non-profit groups and organizations will have an opportunity to give back to the community this spring.

Tim Kydd with Elections Saskatchewan explained the details on the new "Take Part" initiative that encourages groups to work the upcoming Provincial Election.

"We're encouraging service organization's, faith organization's, sport clubs, you name it, to get involved with working the election and also an idea that our chief electoral officer had is to look at this as a fundraiser."

Roughly 150 workers are needed in each of the 61 constituencies for April's provincial election.

"If you get one service organization interested in this and they have ten of their members come out and work election day, that day plus their training pay, that's roughly around $230," explained Kydd. "If they collectively donate that to one common cause or charity that is a pretty significant donation to the charity."

Kydd says you can find everything you need to apply at the Elections Saskatchewan website.

Provincial election day is April 4th.
