On Thursday at the Bella Vista Inn in Humboldt a business crowd heard from Joy McKinnon as she explained a new website to assist people with barriers find work.

McKinnon is a Supported Employment Transitions Initiative(SETI) Coordinator who developed the website.

"The website is called employlink.ca it's a website that has been in development for the last year. It features tabs for a job seeker, if you are an educator helping a job seeker that's having some issues or leaving school, you are an employment specialist or if you are an employer wanting to know more about an untapped labour force."

McKinnon says the benefit of the site is every location with support organizations for people with disabilities such as Humboldt and District Community Services can use it to have their services located and how to use them.

"The great thing about the website is it's for each community, it's not something generally for Regina or Saskatoon. It doesn't matter whether you live in a small community up north or if you live right here in Humboldt, you can find what you need on that website and someone to contact about it."

McKinnon explained how it's different than a site like Saskjobs.ca saying it's more a resource site rather than listings.

"You might find some tips that you didn't know what sort of things I could be exempt from, what are some of the things I have to be able to do, what sort of terminology might be used? If you are a job seeker and haven't been able to attach yourself to the labour force, you know where are some resources that I can call or email so i can get a hold of someone that can help me."
