For the month of August, SGI's traffic focus was on commercial vehicle safety.

However, once again it was speeding tickets that dominated the month of August.

Saskatchewan police issued a total of 6,371 tickets last month, with 5,232 of those for speeding, and only 105 related to commercial vehicle safety.

Kelley Brinkworth, Manager of Media Relations for SGI gave her thoughts regarding the jump in speeding tickets.

"Definitely the highest number we've seen for spedding for a while for the monthly traffic safety spotlights. If we look back to previous months, in July we saw  just over 3500 tickets for speeding so significantly higher. I think on one hand more people are speeding but also there's increased enforcement on the roads as well with the combined traffic safety services so more officers on the road that are catching people speeding."

SGI's focus for this month is School Zone Safety, while October will focus on Distracted Driving.
