For the month of March, Saskatchewan Government Insurance has set the traffic safety spotlight to focus on seat belts.

Police in the province will be looking our for vehicle occupants not wearing a seat belt, not properly wearing a seat belt, or not having children buckled up properly.

"In 2014 in the province, 23 people died and 185 were injured because they weren't properly restrained in the vehicle," noted SGI Media Relations Manager Kelley Brinkworth.

She added that while buckling up will not prevent a crash, it could help you survive in a crash.

In addition to properly fastening your seat belt, Brinkworth notes that your headrest should be adjusted to your height to prevent whiplash.

The spotlight also reflects on to social media with the campaign being officially titled as #BuckleUp.
