SGI has received 40 claims from people in the City of Humboldt related to last week's windstorm, SGI spokesman Tyler McMurchy said.

Of those, 11 were auto claims and 29 were property claims in what was a "fairly significant event overall," he said.

"Generally what we're seeing as far as auto claims from across the province is damage to vehicles resulting from debris blowing around - tree branches and that sort of thing hitting cars and damaging them," McMurchy said.

"As far as property goes, you're seeing damage to homes - roofs, fences, that sort of thing. Shingles missing. Patio and yard furniture in some cases."

There have been about 2,500 claims in total across the province, he said.
