A few fields of flax and canola are all that remain behind when it comes to the 2017 harvest in the area.

Producers have essentially wrapped things up in regards to harvest operations, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture's Weekly Crop Report.

That is a drastic change from 2016, when only 82% of the crop was in across the province, thanks to an early fall snow storm.

Yields vary throughout the region but are about average to slightly above average, with lentils, field peas and durum showing better yields than normal.

Topsoil moisture conditions are 58% adequate, 30% short and 12% very short.

The report notes that a number of producers elected to not seed winter cereals as fields were still too dry, which brought concerns about crops germinating and establishing prior to winter.

Fall work is continuing, with some farmers being able to reclaim acres that were lost in previous years due to flooding.

Across the province, some oats, barley, flax, canola and soybeans remain out in the fields.

Thursday's issue of the crop report was the final one for the season. The province says 211 crop reporters contributed their time to helping develop the weekly report during seeding and harvest.
