A small town tavern has won a prestigious provincial award for the second year in a row.

Hank's Tavern in Bradwell has won the Saskatchewan Country Music Association Nightclub of the Year award.

Owner Hank Ukrainetz describes the feeling of winning the award.

"It's very surreal and exciting. Of course a person always hopes of winning, but I truly didn't think I would win this year, two years in a row. But it sure is nice to have the hard work we do be recognized. I was not prepared for my acceptance speech."

The bar is known for bringing in live music from Saskatchewan artists.

Ukrainetz says playing live country bands in her bar seems to be successful.

"There is so much musical talent in Saskatchewan with rock and country that a lot of music lovers such as myself aren't aware that we have that much."

Ukrianetz explains how she is entered to win every year.

"I'm nominated by the board of directors of the Saskatchewan Country Music Association, and they vote on it. I have to put in a submission letter once I'm nominated and then it goes off of things that I've done and how I think I deserve the award."

Hanks tavern will host a Stars of the SCMA's weekend on June 3rd and 4th to celebrate the Nightclub of the year and the winning artists.
