Just by walking down the street of Humboldt you may see the green and yellow ribbons that are wrapped around trees, fire hydrants, and signs.

Well in the Wood Creek area of Calgary, Alberta, the residents, students, scouts, and guides will be wrapping green and yellow ribbons around trees, much like in the city of Humboldt. Organizer of the ribbon wrapping around the community in Wood Creek is Judy Mckearney, who was the person that proposed the idea to the residents as well as Wood Creek Community Association to get approval.

"This is something that touched my heart deeply, but there is a lot of people that have some beside me to share the vision, and that's what it's all about being in community," said Mckearney.

The wrapping of the ribbons will be taking place on September 14th to the 16th, after school starts. Three schools are involved with the wrapping of the ribbons, Girl Guides and scouts in the area, and simple residents as well. The community felt they needed to honour the victims of the fateful bus crash that took place on April 6th in their own way, especially with some of the players being from Alberta.

The ribbons will be wrapped around trees through the community for 2 weeks. After that time is up, the ribbons must be taken down to keep the parks clean.
