An appearance was made in Melfort Provincial Court this morning by the lawyer of Normand Mark Joseph Lavoie.

Lavoie is charged with three counts of criminal negligence causing death, and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

On May 3rd, the man was allegedly driving his semi when he approached a traffic stop at a construction zone on Highway 6. He failed to stop at the scene and crashed into a vehicle being driven by three teenage boys from Carrot River.

Their vehicle then collided with a truck.

The three teens died at the scene of the accident, while a flagperson at the traffic stop was airlifted to ambulance.

The 38-year-old had his matters adjourned until January 7th back in Melfort Provincial Court.

Lavoie's lawyer requested more time in the matter to see how a similar case in Weyburn plays out.
