Flour, sugar, and a lot of warm-hearted Canadians' efforts from across the country went into building the sizeable donation received Friday for the Humboldt Broncos organization.

Dan Grywacheski, owner/operator of Tim Hortons in Humboldt handed Broncos Vice President Randy MacLEAN a cheque for $ 851,066.27.

"It started in Saskatchewan, and so many more wanted to help and be a part of this, so it went national", explains Grywacheski.

Over the past few weeks, many franchisees and owners of Tim Hortons restaurants across the country have been baking and selling the green and yellow spinkled donuts at a dollar a piece, with all proceeds going towards the Broncos.

In addition to the donut sales, Tim Hortons customers made additional contributions and Tim Hortons Corporate also donated a portion to the cause.

"It's surreal. It's amazing and we're just honoured to be able to do it," says Grywacheski of the fundraising venture.
