After starting a cabaret show six years ago in Toronto, Michelle Berting Brett has been able to take her Carpenters tribute show around the United States.

Berting Brett, originally from St. Gregor studied opera and musical theater in North Dakota and Toronto where she began performing.

Her love for Karen Carpenters' work and crowds telling her that she sounded like the famous performer helped her to pursue the tribute show.

"I started adding their songs into my shows and the wonderful thing was that every time I did somebody would inevitably walk up to me after a show or set and say I love that song and I love Karen Carpenter, so I had over twenty years ago I had thought to myself, wouldn't it be great to have a show that was just Carpenters music."

The show 'We've Only Just Begun; Carpenters Remembered,' was born in February of 2013.

She is now doing a show called Merry Christmas Darling; Carpenters Christmas that got kicked off last weekend in Connecticut, "they had two Christmas albums, two beautiful Christmas television specials, there's just a wealth of beautiful material that we have to draw from," Berting said.

Her Christmas show can be seen in Vegas this holiday season.

Berting Brett also filled us in on what is in the works for the future, "our intention for 2016 is we want to get back up to Canada with the show, it would be so fun, I actually haven't performed in Saskatchewan since I left many years ago so it would be a real thrill to get back to Saskatchewan and see my people."

Her CD is available online at cdbaby, Amazon, and Itunes or at Cottage Boutique here in Humboldt.
