On March 19th, 2016 at 5:23pm the Melfort RCMP responded to a complaint of a male that was stabbed on the James Smith First Nation.
The male victim, age 30, was transported to the Melfort Hospital via ambulance and then later air lifted to Saskatoon via STARS.
The male victim suffered one stab wound and is currently in stable condition.
 
Two hours after the initial incident a 32 male was taken into custody by the Melfort RCMP with connection the incident. 
 
The RCMP Major Crime North, RCMP Prince Albert General Investigations Section, Tisdale Forensic Identification Section, and RCMP Prince Albert Police Dog Services are assisting with the investigation.
