Humboldt is getting set once again for the On Stage Dance Festival.

Tuesday night at DK Dance Visions Humboldt, Mayor Rob Muench was on hand to proclaim the 3rd-9th of April as "Dance Week" in the city.

On Stage Board Member Cori Norman says the excitement is starting to build.

"Definitely, this is the announcement that sets the stage for the week of dance, friendships and learning by all including instructors, dancers and parents."

Over 1,000 dancers will converge on the city and area, the event runs from April 6th-9th at Jubilee Hall in the Uniplex.

"We have dancers coming from all four corners of Saskatchewan coming to this festival," Norman continued. "We are celebrating the fact that we are near 1,000 dancers."

Dancing begins at 8 o'clock each morning, wrapping up around 9:30 each night except Sunday. That day features their "Golden Ticket" ticket portion followed by the awards ceremony in the late afternoon.

Every year the festival brings in highly touted adjudicators and this year is no different with Humboldt born star Abbey Dutton coming back. She danced at Jackie's studio from 2001-2007.

"We're really excited to have her come home. This is one of those opportunities that falls into our hands and we really wanted to capitalize on it," beamed Norman. "We want to show these dancers that there is something more out there to learn, to experience, to see someone go farther."

Weekend passes are $25, a day pass is $10.
