East-central Saskatchewan can't even start digging out from a storm that blew into the region Monday.

Heavy wind and snow moved into the province on Monday afternoon and since then wind has howled and the snow has fallen.

The Humboldt area has seen around 20 centimeters fall although it's tough to get an accurate report with the wind playing a key factor.

Travel was not recommended Wednesday to Saskatoon along Highway 5, that remains the case early Thursday morning according to the Highway Hotline

The road was closed for a good portion of the afternoon Wednesday just west of the Highway 2 junction due to a livestock trailer blocking the roadway. Highway 41 between Highways 368 and 20 is closed as of Thursday morning due to two jack-knifed rigs.

The RCMP reported Wednesday that over 45 crashes were reported from 1pm to 5pm.

A number of accidents were reported to the radio station as well, that included a rollover near Englefeld, a crash at the Carmel turn plus another jack-knifed semi on Highway 5 near Quill Lake.

The police were happy to report there was no serious injuries.

According to Thursday's forecast four more centimeters of snow is expected, no end is in site over the next five days.
