A teen who was left paralyzed by the Humboldt Broncos bus crash could be home next week after spending almost a month doing physiotherapy at the Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia.

Ryan Straschnitzki has been undergoing physiotherapy, including learning how to care for himself and to use a wheelchair.

He says he will continue working on rehab and will either look for a job or go back to school when he gets home to Airdrie, Alberta.

Sixteen people died and 13 others, including Straschnitzki, were injured in the crash of the hockey team's bus.

Ryan’s father, Tom Straschnitzki, posted a video to Twitter on Tuesday showing Ryan walking, with help from physiotherapists and a large treadmill, for the first time since the accident.

“No son. It won’t fit in the house,” he said in the post.
