Despite a slow start to the year for residential building permits, the City of Humboldt is experiencing a high value of commercial permits issued thus far in 2017.

Through the first six months of the year, 4.2 million dollars in commercial permits have been issued, with larger projects coming with the St. Elizabeth's Convent, as well as Humboldt Smiles Dental Clinic, which is building its new home just west of the mall.

The commercial permits make up for a low number of residential permits thus far, with under 200 thousand dollars being collected at the halfway point of the year.

The city says that 25 permits went out, valued at $4.4 million dollars. Even at the halfway point of the year, that figure is well on the way towards passing last year's 12 month total of 4.8 million.
