Ten students in the area had the opportunity to attend a Tech Camp at Carlton Trail College in Humboldt between July 31 and August 2, where they had the chance to create their own digital games.

Carlton Trail College, Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Sagehill Community Futures worked together to bring the camp to Humboldt.

Sagehill Community Futures Coordinator Jenny Glessman explains more about what the students were able to do.

"They learned how to create their own game. At the end of the three days, they had their game on a USB drive they could take home and share with their friends. They did everything from graphics and coding to actually make things move and do what they wanted it to do."

She adds that this kind of technology is becoming the new trend.

"Coding is becoming very popular. We're hoping that bringing this to the youth that down the road they may be able to look at this as an actual career and maybe become an entrepreneur in our region."

This isn't the only camp like this across the province, Glessman explains.

"We are offering ten camps throughout the summer. In this region, we went to our school to let them know that it was out there. We only had ten spots and it was full in about two weeks."
