The constant sunshine last weekend was a “huge factor” in the success of the Humboldt Summer Sizzler.

“I don’t think we’ve had four days of shine and no rain in Sizzler history,” said Bailey Maxwell, event and administration assistant with the city.

The Sizzler sold the most midway day passes ever, including $40,000 worth of day passes on Saturday alone. They also almost sold out of weekend midway passes.

People came from other communities, such as Regina, to check out Humboldt this year, Maxwell said. They felt more relaxed and free to let their kids run around in Humboldt than in the big cities, she said.

Mayor Rob Muench says the sizzler was a good diversion for everyone.

“I think the way the community has been in the last little while, I think it was good to get out and have some fun and get back to what I call - what everybody is calling - the new normal in Humboldt.

“It was nice to see the kids out and smiling and laughing and having a good time. And the summer sizzler was a good way to do that.”
