The entire province of Saskatchewan is rallying around Humboldt doing what they can as our province comes together in the midst of tragedy.

Many cities and towns have shown their support with various types of fundraisers. On Wednesday, one story came out of Estevan, four hours south of Humboldt in southeast Saskatchewan, that is particularly eye-catching.

After word got out on Wednesday that the local Dairy Queen in Estevan would be donating 100% of sales to the victims and their families involved in the Humboldt Broncos tragedy, Estevan and the community of south east Saskatchewan stepped up, and came out in droves to support a cause that is near and dear to the hearts of everyone in the province.

If you're standing up, you may want to take a seat...because Dairy Queen raised $23,353 on Wednesday.

"I don't even know what to say about this," explained Dairy Queen Owner, Louise Vandenhurk who was blown away by the support on Wednesday. "It's something we've never seen, and this community always comes forward."

Dairy Queen In Estevan Was Full As The Community Supported The Humboldt Broncos.

From open to close, customers lined up inside and out, opening up their wallets in support of everyone affected by last Friday's accident.

"It was a community effort on all levels, people waited patiently because we were so overwhelmed. There wasn't one complaint, I'm lost for words," Vandenhurk said. "The comments from people out there were so uplifting it kept us going, we were running all day. It's a community that's just like family and you come together at times like this."

Not only was the staff at Dairy Queen running around and doing their best to have things ready in a timely manner for customers, the Estevan Bruins billet moms made an appearance to lend a hand to the staff.

"The staff never quit smiling, we had staff go home after their shift to return help us in the night because they knew what was going on. The billet moms from the Estevan Bruins came in and did what ever they could to help us, those billet moms were great, they cleaned and did anything to help."

Not only will they be donating their sales from Wednesday, the entire staff who worked on Wednesday will be donating their pay cheques from that day to the total. And to show just how much of a community effort this really was, Vandenhurk said that they ran out of buns at one point, and the local A&W location stepped up and donated 30 dozen buns to help get them through.

"I'm at a loss for words, kudos to my staff and everyone. They had smiles and were still laughing at the end of the day when we were cleaning up. They were on a high that I've never seen before."

"It gave us a good feeling that we did a small part that we could help the community and those families," Vandenhurk shared.
