Team Saskatchewan for the Tim Horton's Brier Men's Curling Championships was in Watrous teaching the sport that they love to local kids.

St. Gregor native Kirk Muyres, along with his teammates,  recently defeated all competition at the provincial level of curling and will be facing off against the countries best in Brandon, MB at the Brier. However, that didn't stop them from giving back to the local community and teaching kids the way of the rock.

Muyres along with his brother Dallen and their teammates Kevin and Daniel Marsh were in Watrous on February 14th for a curling camp with plenty of kids in attendance.

"We're lucky enough to get to go around the province and do curling camps for kids. Watrous was picked to do that before Christmas, so we got to go out there on Thursday night to teach the kids a little bit about curling and have some fun with them, said Kirk Muyres.

Muyres takes great pride in his ability to now give back to the community, the same way he appreciated learning from professionals when he was younger attending camps.

"It's so cool, we've been lucky enough to do it for seven years now. I remember when we were kids, we got to go to these curling camps with some of the pros that would come in and teach us, I just remember it was awesome. To be able to do that and give the same feeling to the kids is great. Hopefully, we get them pumped about curling so they stick with it, or at the very least, pumped about something they love. We try to give them some confidence and instill a little bit of work ethic in them. It's really nice to see the smiles on their faces and having fun out there.

Around 25 kids took part in the camp.

The team's schedule doesn't slow down any time soon as their run to be Canada's best begins on March 2nd at the Brier.
