Runners and walkers lined the streets of Middle Lake and Lucien Lake on Sunday.

The Three Lakes Economic Development Region hosted the first ever Three Lakes Walk and Roll.

"The idea came to us as a great way to showcase the community and businesses around Lucien Lake," explained one of the organizers, Lorraine Forster. "There is an amazing array of trails and amenities for everyone to enjoy."

Participants were able to pick their distance between a ten, five and two kilometre trail.

In addition to showcasing the area, it was an opportunity to unite different people, according to Forster.

"It brings together community, families, and we really want to celebrate activities and time together," she said. "Enjoying time within the region with different communities coming out to experience Middle Lake."

Forster says that they wanted to make it a big family event, and were able to line up many different activities for the kids to take part in.

"There is a whole kids activity area that has everything from mini horse wagon rides, face painting, airbrush tattoos, nail and hair art, a climbing wall, a cupcake game," she noted. "It really is a fantastic family day."

The event was held at the Middle Lake Multiplex, with homemade food available throughout the day.
