Coming up beginning June 6th is Tidy Community Week in Humboldt.

The local Communities in Bloom group has a couple clean up events planned for next week but they are actually going to get started Wednesday.

CIB Member Janice Ruedig explains more about what Wednesday afternoon entails.

"We've got the 1st Westminster Scouts joining us and some of the staff from RBC are joining us too because they have the 'Community Day of Service Grant' and they will be using that to get some volunteers out and help us with cleaning up Water Ridge Park."

Next week the crew will clean up Civic Park on Tuesday and then they will spruce up the front entrance at the Uniplex on the 14th. They should have enough help with those days but Ruedig says property owners can be involved on their own.

"Really just looking to have every body pitch in and do whatever they can on their properties through out the city. In Winter we get all kinds of garbage that blows in and dust and everything so it's a general Spring clean up."

Ruedig adds they will again be entering the annual CIB contest but overall tidy week and what they do isn't about winning anything.

"I think we just have to consistently work at it and one of these years we will top it but really we're just doing it to make it a better place. Whether we actually win is not really the main focus for it, it's just making Humboldt a better place."

This year the CIB judges will visit in August.
