Many of Humboldt and area citizens donated socks for a good cause through the month of November.

Dr. Dave Martinukk, a member of the Saskatchewan Chiropractors Association of Saskatchewan, said why they chose socks.

It all started with a conversation with the Salvation Army and the Saskatchewan Chiropractors Association.

"We asked what one of the greatest needs might be one of the unmet needs for some of their projects in the province, they deal with homeless shelters and programs for less fortunate, and they said you know what nobody ever gives us socks."

This was the beginning of the Toasty Toes Campaign three years ago.

The socks go to the Salvation Army where they can give them to those in need.

This being the third year that Humboldt has participated in the campaign. The Chiropractics Associates collected 185 pairs, while the Circle Chiropractic Saskatchewan acquired 225 pairs of socks.

"Some of our patients and fellow Humboldtonians come in with socks they have knit themselves so people have been creative about this."

The total goal for all of Saskatchewan was 15,000 pairs.
