Kaylie Nemeth had a scare of a lifetime while driving home from the lake on Sunday.

Nemeth and her two and half month old son, Emerson, were driving on the highway when the Alert Ready signal came on the radio and notified them to a potential tornado in the area.

"It said tornado warning for, I think, the RM of Spalding and area," she said. "All of a sudden two funnel clouds showed up and I had a feeling of helplessness."

They tried to take coverage in a farm yard, but no one was home.

"I opened the door and yelled 'hello', and no one was in there, so we ran inside, which, I feel really bad about doing that, but at that point, I just didn't really care."

A farmer named Vic stopped and got out of his sprayer to help Nemeth and her family to safety. He was unknown to the family and was a hero in this situation.

"He was a very nice man. I did get his name after that and found him on Facebook and thanked him again," she explained. "He was very calm, and I was a mess. I was crying because I had my son with me and I just wanted to get him safe."
