The City of Humboldt is once again running it's Toys for Tickets campaign starting Tuesday.

The program will run until the 10th of December.

Community Development and Communications Services Director Jennifer Brooks talks about how the program started in the city.

"It really grew out of a need of the city wanting to give back to Humboldt," she explained the day of the launch. "There were other centres in the province that were doing similar campaigns where folks would bring in gift purchases if they received a parking or traffic violation and those were then donated to families in need in the community during the Christmas season."

In the program's first year $750 was raised, that number has hovered around the $500 mark on average. Brooks feels it has been successful.

"We have, over the last four years we've raised close to $2,000."

Additional cash donations can be made at City Hall for those wishing to do so.

PARTNERS Family Services will be the local non-profit group looking after the dispersal of the funds once the program wraps up next month.
