If you have plans to commute on highways in the Humboldt area today, it may be in your best interest to change those plans.

The Highway Hotline is alerting motorists of several roads being deemed as not safe for travel.

As of 10:30am on Tuesday, Highway 5 both east and west of the city, as well as Highway 368 to St. Brieux and Highway 6 from Dafoe to Naicam are all experiencing unsafe conditions.

Snow drifts, swirling and drifting snow and zero visibility is being reported on those roads.

Wind gusts are expected to become even stronger throughout Tuesday afternoon, with the possibility of reaching up to 80 kilometres per hour.
