Saskatoon and Regina blood donor clinics are at 100 per cent capacity for the rest of the month in the wake of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

“That’s a tremendous response of people just wanting to do whatever they can to help out,” said Mike Fisher, Saskatoon and Area manager for Canadian Blood Services.

It’s the biggest response the group has seen to a local tragedy, he said.

However accidents, surgeries and cancer treatments still happen every day, so it’s important to keep up an inventory of blood year-round, he said.

“We’re thrilled people are coming out to donate and we’re asking people to continue that throughout the year and become regular donors so that our inventories are always at a good spot.”
