History is always interesting to learn about, especially when it comes to the history of a community you live in. The Humboldt Public Art Committee would like to present their latest installment of the “Sense of Place” storyboard project. Storyboards placed on historical landmarks around Humboldt give people a sense of the significance of each location.

The Committee has previously placed 8 storyboards around the community and is currently working on erecting 5 more. The new boards going up are to be placed at:

- L.L. Bruser Ltd./Cash Motors & Autobody Ltd.

- The Humboldt Apartments (aka the Dafoe “H” huts)

- The St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing

- Humboldt’s grain elevator district

- The Dr. Ogilvie family house/Reflections by Richard

Director of Cultural Services Jennifer Fitzpatrick spoke about the upcoming projects, “There are many, many locations in Humboldt that have historical value; these are simply the next round. The Public Arts Committee did review a lot of suggestions that either came in from the public or just through the research that we’ve done.” Fitzpatrick explained that there are more storyboards to be placed in the upcoming future.

The Committee is reaching out to the community and invites anyone who may have stories or photos relating to any historical sites around the area to present them with their information.

“A lot of times we get just general data that people have. They may think it doesn’t have a huge significance, that they don’t know a lot about one of the places, but when you start to put all of those stories together, you’d be amazed at how things naturally come into one bigger story.” Fitzpatrick said, “You don’t have to know a lot, you don’t have to be a historian. If you just have an essence of that place, or you have a photograph or something, we’re just happy to gather all that together.”

Those with a story or any information are encouraged to contact the Museum located at 602 Main Street.
