Protection from the rain and extra clothes may be your best friends throughout the week in the Humboldt area.

A special weather statement issued by Environment Canada on Sunday afternoon says that we could be in for quite a week with varying conditions, and perhaps, the first snowfall of the season.

Rain is expected to occupy the first half of the week, with the heavier slate falling Monday evening and overnight in to Tuesday morning.

The Humboldt area isn't expected to be as impacted by the rain as southern regions of the province.

Anywhere from 25 to 50 millimetres could fall up until Wednesday, while further south, well past 50 mm is likely to fall.

As the rain system clears on Wednesday, a stream of cool air will follow, which could see rain turn to snow on Wednesday morning.

If that does happen, it is not expected to stick around for very long, if at all, as the warm ground and still above zero temperatures will help.
