The Town of Wadena is revamping its animal control bylaws.

The idea is to create a single animal control bylaw alongside a dangerous animals bylaw, administrator Ferne Hebig said.

“The trend seems to be going toward just putting all of your animal control in one enforceable bylaw, which of course will make things easier for your animal control officer.”

The town has had separate bylaws for dogs and cats, for example, with a license discount for cats which are neutered and vaccinated, but not dogs.

Town Council repealed Wadena’s bee bylaw on Monday, as it felt the provincial and federal governments do a good enough job regulating beekeeping, Hebig said.

The town will also no longer have a separate poultry and livestock bylaw. No one in the town keeps those animals, Hebig said.
