Wadena town council has some hard questions to answer regarding the community’s campground, according to an administration report provided at its January 9 meeting.

Questions like: “How important is having a campground to the Town? Is this something we want to ramp up as a significant Tourism feature? Do we want to encourage or increase use? Is it in the best possible location?”

The current building provides showers for the six-site RV campground and change rooms for the nearby pool. It needs significant repair and it’s likely an entirely new building is required, the report says.

“It would be upgraded to a point where it’s a good, nice place to go to for showers, change rooms, that type of thing, not an old decrepit building the needs work which is kind of what is right now,” director of Parks and Recreation Chad Glasser said in an interview.

Council has opted not to move it to a location outside the town, to keep it close to other amenities, he said.

Any work done would proceed over the 2018 and 2019 budgets.
