Wadena born Doug Kelln is retiring from his post at SaskEnergy.

Kelln has been with the crown corporation for 34 years servicing as President and Chief Executive Officer since 2004.

"Under Doug Kelln, SaskEnergy has become an industry leader in safety, an innovator in service delivery, and a vital part of the solid foundation upon which our growing economy has been built," Premier Brad Wall boasted in a news release. "Doug's legacy is a responsive, efficient and reliable utility its customers can count on. I want to thank Doug for demonstrating the professionalism of the employees within our Crown corporations," Wall added.

Kelln received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1982 from the University of Saskatchewan before joining SaskPower, he joined SaskEnergy in 1988.

The Board of Directors will lead a competitive process of hiring a replacement later this year.

His retirement takes effect January 2nd.
