Wakaw Mayor Steve Skoworodko looks forward to playing in the town’s new spray park next month.

“It should be fun. The little blast cannons are always fun to try and spray somebody with,” he said.

The Lions Club started fundraising for the almost $200,000 project four years ago, said Skoworodko, who is a Lions Club member.

They felt it was a needed attraction for kids and visitors to the town, which sees many tourists heading to the lake in the summer.

“It’s going to be really exciting. I think a long time coming - we’ve always said it’s something that’s needed in the community as another piece.”

The water and sewer installation happened last week, with the installation set to start Monday.

The 15-metre by 25-metre park, located on First Street South, will feature 10 pieces of equipment including spray cannons, dump buckets and arches.

It’s expected to be operational by mid July.
