Support and encouragement for Canada's Olympic hopefuls can be found within communities across the country.

As the excitement builds leading up to the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games, many towns are making efforts to cheer on their hometown heroes. The town of Wakaw is doing just that. Starting Saturday, January 27th and throughout the coming two weeks, a Canadian flag will make its way through many hands in Wakaw.

The town's goal is to collect signatures and well-wishes for Olympian Linden Vey. Community members are welcome to find the flag and add their autograph to it at the following places and on the following dates:

January 27 - Wakaw Jubilee Arena
January 29 - Municipal Office
January 30 - Conexus Credit Union
January 31 - COOP Food Store
February 1 & 2 - Wakaw School
February 3 - Wakaw Pharmacy 
February 5 - Lakeview Pioneer Lodge 
February 6 - Municipal Office
February 7 - CEC/ Medical Clinic 
February 8 - Wakaw Dental
February 9 - Municipal Office

Linden Vey is a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger. He plays with ZSC Lions organization in the National League.

The Flag will travel with Linden’s family to Pyeongchang for the 2018 Winter Olympics and eventually be passed on to Linden himself.
