Hogfest in Englefeld was another success again this weekend.

With kids games, slo-pitch and plenty of food there's lots to take in.

The event has turned into a huge financial benefit for the village as Recreation Board Treasurer Deanna Miskolczi told us Saturday.

"It's actually our biggest fundraiser of the year, our only main one. On a regular year we would make anywhere from $10,000-$15,000 and on a homecoming year as high as $25,000 so it's really a critical event for us."

Their supper is the highlight with anywhere from 700 to 1,200 people attending their pig roast in the arena. This year a dozen pigs were roasted on a spit for over 24 hours with a number of local volunteers manning the spit shack.

Mike Miskolczi has a shift Saturday as well, he said they've learned how to cook the pork perfectly over the 46 years of the event.

"There's not a lot of science, we've been doing for a few years now. We get to see how the pigs are coming along and learning what to expect at this point in time."

"The guys at night know the science," Miskolczi joked.
