The Humboldt and District Fire Department had a wish list for what it wanted on a new rescue truck.

Light tower. Compressed air foam system. Winch. Generator. Command post. And a lot of storage.

They were able to get all of that in a used unit, formerly stationed with an oil company in Fort McMurray. Though it’s six years old, it’s virtually brand new, Chief Mike Kwasnica said.

“It’s everything we could ask and more.”

Another perk is that the unit is similar to the department’s ladder truck, so members already know how to drive it.

“It’s just a matter of getting used to it and being comfortable with it.”
