Drinking water safely will require an extra step for the next short while, as the City of Humboldt is slated to issue a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory on Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday, a power outage shut down the Wakaw-Humboldt Water Supply System, thus bringing the water flow to a halt. The outage is expected to take longer than anticipated to repair, thus causing the advisory to be issued.

Most rural areas on the system have already had the drinking water advisory issued, whereas Humboldt has a reserve to run on for situations like an outage at the supply station.

The boil water advisory will officially be issued at 2:00pm.
