Early Thursday afternoon a water break happened on 8th avenue and 7th street in Humboldt.

Director of public works Peter Bergquist explains the situation.

"A fairly significant one, we had a pipe rupture just under highway 5 near the seventh street intersection, crews have isolated the pipe and the only ones currently affected are the public school."

The area will be worked on Monday potentially. Bergquist explains why.

"We are anticipating the start the dig on Monday just because there is a fair amount of coordination required to get detours set up for heavy truck traffic and such. Basically Monday we are going to go in and start the dig and hopefully, it takes the day but it may take two depend on the extent of the break."

In the case that any other areas would be affected yellow door hangers would be put on doorknobs to notify homeowners.
