From small beginnings to large growth, the Watrous Fun Run has become one of the most popular car shows in rural Saskatchewan.

The show, which wrapped up its 26th edition on Saturday, started out with around 60 to 70 entires, according to Jason Lindgren.

"We are peaking right around 200 entries every year now," he explained. "That shows the support of the car show, and we feel that it is one of the largest shows in rural Saskatchewan."

Lindgren says that the show's original intended purpose was to help support the local economy and attract more visitors to Watrous.

He noted that through all this time, that hasn't changed.

"It brings people to Watrous, gives them some awareness of what our community is about, all the services we have to offer, and how close we are to major centres."

Lindgren added that the event is a top tradition in the community.

"It has now become the longest running annual event in Watrous."

In addition to Main Street being lined with vehicles, there was family entertainment, a pancake breakfast, supper buffet, and awards and prizes.
