Area snowmobilers will be elated to hear that a fresh blanket of snow is on the way.

Environment Canada has issued a weather statement for 10 to 15 centimetres of snow that is expected over central Saskatchewan on Tuesday.

A system developing in southern Alberta on Monday will track across southern Saskatchewan on Tuesday, and while doing so, will track northeast through the central portion of the province.

The heaviest snowfall amounts are expected between Prince Albert and La Ronge, according to Environment Canada.

While the weather statement doesn't specifically name the City of Humboldt, it does include some area communities, such as Middle Lake, Lake Lenore and St. Brieux.

Environment Canada says that for Humboldt, around two to four centimetres are expected during Tuesday afternoon, with some periodic flurries throughout the evening.

Following the snowfall, cold air will return to the area, with forecasted highs of -20 or lower beginning on Wednesday.
