A large portion of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta is under an Extreme cold weather warning including Humboldt.

According to environment Canada the drop in mercury is due to cold Arctic air coming from the north, that combined with wind is creating wind chills in the -40s.

The weather trend should last the weekend and move off starting Monday.

People outside for any length of time are at great risk of frost bite and hypothermia.
